PACKAGING DESIGN / CPG
Spread ads have the increased complexity of working across the spine of a periodical. While providing a challenge to art directors, spread insertions can provide their own unique opportunities to make the messaging memorable and meaningful.

Client: Nestle Beverage Company | Coffee-mate Flavored Non-dairy Creamer (powdered) | 1992-1994
One of the new product lines in the Coffee-mate powdered creamer category, this was a completely new design produced to capture expanding markets in the flavored creamer trends of the early 1990's. Carnation is a private label owned by Nestle.
Client: Nestle Beverage Company | Nestle Quik (powdered) | 1992-1994
An inspiring opportunity to work on such a globally recognized brand! Handled redesign to incorporate NLEA nutritional labeling requirements across all the SKUs. Redesign included conversion of all traditional mechanical artwork to Illustrator.
Client: Nestle Beverage Company | Nestle Quik RTD (ready to drink, assorted flavors) | 1992-1994
Packaging designer responsible for the redesign and electronic iteration of all SKU's of Nestle Quik RTD "ready to drink". All of the Nestle's food packaging and subsidiaries and holdings required the integration of NLEA lablelling at the time.
Client: Nestle Beverage Company | Nestea Instant Herb-Tea (flavored powdered) | 1992-1994
New product line expansion within the famous Nestea brand to expand sales in the flavored instant tea market. Completely new container designs provided great opportunity to update the Nestea look and feel moving forward across SKUs.
Client: Nestle Beverage Company | Nestea Instant Herb-Tea (flavored powdered) | 1992-1994
Another example of how redesign of high-equity properties can help produce new perceptions of older brands. As the new Nestea look took hold across SKU's so to did consumer interest as sales increased across markets and demographics.
Client: Nestle Beverage Company | Kern's/Libby's Nectars RTD (assorted flavors) | 1992-1994
These two Nestle owned brands redesign was one of the highlights in my packaging design opportunities at Nestle. Working with a vibrant color palette and beautiful fruit illustrations harkened back to the turn-of-the-century fruit crate artwork.
Client: Nestle Beverage Company | Taster's Choice Instant Coffees | 1992-1994
Another hi-equity brand that was on a roll after the highly successful Taster's Choice TV commercials of the late 80's and early 90's. The redesigns required updating without too much variance due to the brand recognition quotient at the time.
Client: Nestle Beverage Company | Taster's Choice Instant Coffees (flavored/variety) | 1992-1994
As Nestle expanded it's flavored instant coffee product line with new products, it still required a lot of NLEA content to be incorporated. With advances in printing tech and substrate materials, these little labels could really pop on retail shelves.
Client: Nestle Beverage Company | MJB Coffees (ground / variety) | 1992-1994
These SKU's offer a great example of the advances in printing technology and packaging materials at the time. Working with foiled subtraties gave the MJB product lines a eye-popping advantage and appealing presence on the retail shelves.
Client: Nestle Beverage Company | Killer Shake RTD (assorted flavors) | 1992-1994
At the time, a recent acquisition by Nestle named Killer Shake was being repositioned for a national rollout and required NLEA updating as well. While the product really never took off due to poor sales it was a fun product line to produce.
Client: Nestle Beverage Company | Killer Shake RTD (assorted flavors) | 1992-1994
Illustrator and Photoshop and digital conversion of traditional print mechanicals was just coming into the norm. With this image I wanted to illustrate the technical complexity and detail demands of producing artwork for mass production.
Client: Nestle Beverage Company | Carnation Hot Cocoa Mix (powdered) | 1992-1994
As part of the either person NLEA packaging team at Nestle, we would not only have our assigned product lines, but also overlap with each other on larger product lines. This is one such example. Following evolving brand guides is the key.
Client: Headblade, Inc. | Clear Head Packaging and product assortment CTDs | 2006
Freelanced for this innovative headcare company to develop packaging, POS and other marketing materials. A very sports/action oriented brand vision dictated a lot of the palette and personaiity of the packaging and CPG materials.
Client: Buena Vista Home Entertainment | Walt Disney Interactive CD-Rom Software | 1997
A freelance gig at Buena Vista landed me this packaging assignment which was a really fun project. Researching archival images of Walt Disney along with designing and producing the mechanical artwork was an amazing opportunity.
Client: Takara | Bow-Lingual Dog Translator | 2003
Just one of a few concepts for this tech entertainment product which claimed (with a wink mind you) that it could translate how your dog is feeling into English, Japanese, etc. A novelty item that was as cute as the packaging concepts.
